Markie Sanders is a nationally recognized bassist. She is a veteran of the West Coast bluegrass scene, held in high regard for her solid timing and her ability to get inside the music and create a compelling groove. In the Bay Area, Markie is known for her work with Vern and Ray, The Good Ol' Persons, and Laurie Lewis, among others.

Markie also resided in Nashville for 14 years, where she was the primary bassist for the Nashville Mandolin Ensemble. While in Nashville, she also worked with prominent bluegrass artists Claire Lynch, Harley Allen, Chris Jones, Kathy Chiavola, and Barry and Holly Tashian, and performed at Opryland, Nashville Now, and The Grand Ol' Opry.

Markie has also performed with Frank Wakefield, Peter Rowan, and Rose Maddox, and toured in Canada, Scandinavia, Europe, and Japan. In addition to performing, she has become an in-demand private teacher. Click here to contact Markie about lessons.
